IDRX Signs MoU with AUDD Issuer for Onchain Settlement
Jakarta, 7 October 2026. PT IDRX Indo Inovasi, the issuer of the Rupiah stablecoin IDRX, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AUDC Pty Ltd, the issuer of the Australian dollar stablecoin AUDD. Under the agreement, announced on Monday, 28 September, the two companies will explore a corridor for settling cross-border transactions directly between Indonesia and Australia.
AUDC and IDRX will study how to connect AUDD and IDRX through onchain settlement, meaning transactions are settled and recorded directly on a blockchain network. If it goes ahead, the corridor could allow transactions between the Australian dollar and the Rupiah to settle directly, without passing through the US dollar as an intermediary currency.
The study will look at using AUDD and IDRX to settle export-import transactions, business payments, and other cross-border transactions between the two countries. The partnership is still at the exploratory stage. The AUD-IDR corridor is not yet live, and no technical details or implementation timeline have been announced.
Transactions that still take the long way
Transactions between the Rupiah and the Australian dollar often route through the US dollar as an intermediary. As a result, funds can go through more than one currency conversion and more than one bank before reaching the recipient, and each step adds cost and time.
The money moving between the two countries is substantial. According to Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), two-way trade between Australia and Indonesia reached A$35.39 billion in 2024, making Indonesia Australia’s ninth-largest two-way trading partner. DFAT also reports that around 1.53 million Australians visited Indonesia in 2024. Since July 2020, the two countries have had a trade agreement in force, the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).
AUDC CEO Effie Dimitropoulos said the two countries increasingly need more modern payment infrastructure.
“Australia and Indonesia have close economic ties. From trade and tourism to growing business relationships, funds flow between the two countries every day. However, many of these transactions still rely on legacy payment infrastructure that adds cost, complexity, and processing time,” Dimitropoulos said.
“Through this partnership, we will explore how stablecoin infrastructure operating within a regulatory framework can simplify cross-border transactions between the Australian dollar and the Rupiah, and open up more efficient and accessible transaction corridors,” she added.
With stablecoins now more widely used in financial infrastructure, she said, AUDC is focused on building settlement pathways for trade and business in the region.
Local Currency Stablecoins for Regional Networks
For IDRX, CEO Nathanael Christian said the collaboration shows the potential of local currency stablecoins to make regional payment networks more efficient.
“By connecting IDRX and AUDD directly, we can explore new ways to enable more efficient cross-border settlement between Indonesia and Australia, while supporting the development of digital financial infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region,” Nathanael said.
Earlier, in July 2026, IDRX presented Rupiah stablecoin use cases for cross-border remittances and intellectual property tokenization at MASA 2026, an event held in Singapore by Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy.
